After winning Hall of Fame award
Solsona town to carry on Clean-and -Green program

The municipal government of Solsona through the headship of Mayor Joseph de Lara has vowed to continue its pet program, Clean and Green, to attract more tourists and other visitors outside the country.

After reaping the Hall of Fame in the Gawad Pangulo sa Kapaligiran Award in 2001, speculations came out that it would be the end of the program for the whole town of Solsona.

However just after Mayor Joseph returned as local chief executive, the implementation of the program even went into a more serious undertaking.

Mayor de Lara, together with his wife, then Mayor Bertha de Lara, made Solsona as the Grand Slam winner of the Department of Interior and Local Government’s Clean and Green Program in 1999, 2000 and 2001.

Since implementing the program in 1988, cleaning and greening of the surroundings have become part of the people’s lives in Solsona; as a result, every household has a backyard vegetable garden to augment their means of living.

This program of the De Lara administration continues to inspire constituents as the employees and officials of the local government unit serve as role models.

De Lara said that they will also continue to establish public restrooms to gratify the increasing number of tourists in town.

Moreso, the municipality is set to improve the public market, plaza and the multi-purpose hall with the help of the Solsona of Hawaii Incorporated which is giving its extreme support for the development of the town.

Meanwhile, the municipal government through the Sangguniang Bayan under the stewardship of Vice Mayor Edison de Lara passed an ordinance that aims to give reward to whoever can give a vital information about any illegal activities in the town.

Mayor de Lara said that with this regulation, people will be motivated to cooperate in giving critical information which will possibly lead to the deterrent of a crime or even pilot to the apprehension of a criminal.

The mayor pointed out that the illegal activities they are keen on curbing includes illegal gambling, illegal drugs, illegal logging and anti-littering.

The mayor lauds the attentiveness of the Philippine National Police headed by Police Chief Inspector Joven Aldos of trying to energized their intelligence network by tapping the Barangay Policemen (Tanod) to be more vigilant and aggressive in their sworn duties.

The mayor encouraged his townmates who are now living in Hawaii and other part of the United States to visit their humble town which is now the Cleanest & Greenest municipality in the Philippines and for them to feel proud that they are originally from this great town.

He further said that the peace and order condition in Solsona is very much unwavering that tourists and visitors have nothing to be bothered about while enjoying their vacation in this town.
