Fake lawyer discovered
Bacolor ordered to pay P1M in damages

A lower court here has slapped more than P1 million in moral and exemplary damages against a former associate dean of a law school who had been posing as a lawyer for more than a decade.

Rogelio B. Bacolor, Sr., was a known luminary in local legal circles and had served at one point as associate dean of the Northwestern University until he was discovered to be a non-member of the bar in 2003.

Filipino centennial celebration kicks off December 10, 2005

After months of discussion and consultations, the Filipino Centennial Celebration Commission has approved a plan that calls for a yearlong schedule of activities and festivities. This will begin with the opening ceremonies in December 2005 in Honolulu and on the Big Island, and will end with a closing extravaganza in December 2006.
