VIEW FROM THE BELLTOWER
Sanggunian Panlalawigan member and Ilocos Norte sports czar, Hon. Michael Marcos Keon marked his 52nd birthday with an elegant dinner celebration at the grounds of the Marcos stadium.
The glittering affair was attended by a host of luminaries from the local political and business circles. Foremost among the guests were the “three kings” of local politics, Governor Ferdinand “Bong Bong” R. Marcos Jr., Congressman Roque Ablan Jr., and former Governor and Congressman Rodolfo “Rudy” Farinas. The presence of the triumvirate was indeed regarded by observers as momentous and historic, their presence at a singular occasion at the same place and at the same time, an event which has not happened for quite some time. In no small measure, the attendance of the three political heavyweights is indeed an indicator of the esteem and respect held for the man widely hailed as the savior of Philippine sports.
Adding luster to the occasion was the presence of the Vice-governor Windell Chua and several municipal mayors.
Ranking officials from the military included current IN Provincial director Juan G. Luna who regaled the guests with his Sinatra-esque renditions. Retired generals Armand Agbayani and Rowland Albano were also in attendance.
Representating the business and civic sector was PCCI Laoag City Chapter head Manuel “Nonong” Ablan.
The guests were treated to a sumptuous spread catered by Allen Aguilar of the famed Ravanden’s Grill and restaurant, the hottest nightspot in town. The pepper steak and the Mediterranean chicken cutlets were superb, the “lechon baka” absolutely delectable.
Providing entertainment was the renowned R & B band from San Nicolas who kept the guests partying till the wee hours of the morning.
Truly, an affair to remember!
