Strangers need to be reported—MVF
Laoag City Mayor Michael V. Fariñas has appealed to the general public to help police investigators in solving crimes in the city by reporting strangers they may have seem hanging around. Fariñas said this is one way of helping the authorities in solving the killing incidents that had transpired around the city and at the same time to prevent other untoward incidents from happening anew. Fariñas clarified though that these incidents are considered isolated incidents but just the same they should still be given proper attention. “Nasken ngarud nga agridam tayo ken amwen tayo dagiti um-umay iti bar-barangay tayo nga saan tayo nga am-ammu tapnon adda pamal-palatpatan tayo no kaso nga adda mapas-pasamak iti bukod tayo a lugar,” Fariñas explained. By reporting strangers, the mayor believes that this would be a big help in immediately recognizing suspects. The mayor then requested the public to immediately report to their barangay officials, or the nearest Philippine National Police (PNP) station or checkpoint if there are suspicious strangers in their areas. He also instructed the city PNP to fast track the investigation of recent killing incidents. Meanwhile, Fariñas also divulged that he received information that killers are now accepting a minimal P5,000 fee or even a bottle of alcoholic drink to do the job. With this raw information, Fariñas has also asked the public to be more vigilant in observing people around them. Fariñas also stressed that he still strongly believes that prayer is still the best thing to do in order to eradicate these untoward incidents. Dominic B. dela Cruz
