LAOAG CITY veterinarian Dr. Arthur Cabello announced that the problem at the Laoag City Slaughterhouse pertaining to the lack of water supply has been solved after the acquisition of water pumps and generators. According to Cabello with the recent acquisition of the said water equipments, cleanliness of the slaughterhouse can now be maintained. The Ilocos Times learned that the city slaughterhouse has earlier been reported for its unsanitary condition due to the lack of water supply. This was admitted by Cabello as he stressed that water supply for the slaughterhouse should not be taken for granted since it is needed to maintain cleanliness of the said facility even if there are only a few slaughterhouse personnel. Meanwhile, city general services officer Laurel Mariano also announced that City Hall now has an abundant water supply following the putting up of additional water wells. Water supply also became a major problem at City Hall during the summer season but with the assistance of the Ilocos Norte Water District (INWD), the said problem was temporarily solved. Mariano also appealed to City Hall employees’ understanding if there would still be times when water supply would be low. However with the onset of an earlier wet season, Mariano is hopeful that water supply would become abundant again. Dominic B. dela Cruz
