Laoag police chief P/Supt. Wilson Lopez announced that the election in the city was generally peaceful. According to Lopez, this was despite several blotters, which they said was minor election-related incidents. Lopez thanked the people of Laoag for assisting the police in maintaining peace and order in the city during the whole duration of the election period. Lopez also lauded his men saying despite their minimal number, they are all disciplined as they put in the time and effort, which were more than expected and more than regular hours. Lopez also thanked the Regional Mobile Group (RMG) for providing additional manpower to the city police during the election period. The RMG personnel, Lopez said, would remain in the city until they are recalled by the RMG. Lopez said all police personnel were deployed in their respective assignments, especially during rallies and election campaigns. Lopez also clarified that other police operations were also attended to during the duration of the election period. Meanwhile, re-elected Laoag Mayor Michael V. Fariñas also expressed his thanks and appreciation to the city police for maintaining peace and order in the city. Dominic B. dela Cruz
