To further improve the supermarket
MVF to hold office at LCCC anew

With only little improvement to show in terms of cleanliness and orderliness, Laoag City Mayor Michael V. Fariñas has decided to hold office again at the Laoag City Commercial Complex (LCCC).

Fariñas said he made the decision after he received reports about poor management which had led to many problems arising at the supermarket.

Earlier, Fariñas also held office at the LCCC, tackling the same problem but the same problems arose after he left.

In view of this, Fariñas said he would seek the assistance of assistant city engineer Fred Agpaoa, community affairs officer II Bernardino Rodillas, license officer Cecille Guerrero, administrative officer II Imelda Malto, and revenue collection officer I Glenda Ragasa to help in the overall operation of the LCCC.

Fariñas was supposed to start holding office at the LCCC during the last week of April but he still had to attend the opening of the Aliwan Festival 2006 in Manila where he stayed for three days.

The mayor however clarified that Sonny Guillermo would remain as market master even if he would be holding office at the marker as he added that Guillermo would also join the team so he could perform his duties in the best way possible.

Reacting to this, Guillermo said he found the memorandum not an insult on his part considering that the mayor would again hold office at the market to stem the many problems that continue to arise at the LCCC.

Guillermo had even thanked the mayor for deciding to hold office at the market so the market people, including the vendors, who keep violating the laws at the LCCC would be given proper attention.

Guillermo also reasoned that the main reasons for the poor improvement at the LCCC are because of the lack of supplies and manpower.

Ken maysa pay, natangken pay iti ulo dagiti dadduma nga aglak-lako ta diuray saan a mabalin ket makalikod ka lang, aramiden da manen (And one more thing, some of the vendors are really stubborn because once you turn your back, they would do things even if they know that these are prohibited),” Guillermo said.

Fariñas however maintained that the market management has the power to implement the market guidelines as he stressed that as market master, he should do what is supposed to be done to maintain order at the LCCC.

The Ilocos Times learned that unclean comfort rooms and the dirty surroundings at the LCCC are the perennial problems at the market.
