LC PNP raids pirated discs stalls

With the continuing campaign against piracy, Laoag City Philippine National Police (PNP) officer-in-charge Danilo Garcia led police operatives in raiding pirated CD, VCD and DVD sellers around the city.

The city police force netter nine sacks of pirated discs confiscated from various vendors.

Among the stalls raided were shops located along the city’s thoroughfares and inside the Laoag City Commercial Complex.

The confiscated pirated materials were later destroyed on April 12 by a backhoe in front of the Laoag City Hall and was witnessed by Laoag City Mayor Michael V. Fariñas, other city government officials and the public.

Umpisa pa lang ito kaya kailangan huwag na silang magbenta ng pirated kung ayaw nilang ma-confiscate yung mga tinda nila, e sila din ang kawawa kasi alam naman nilang bawal magbenta ng ganun (This is just the start so they need to refrain from selling pirated materials because in the end it will only be them that will suffer for they know that it is prohibited to sell these kinds of materials),” Garcia said.

Garcia also appealed to pirated materials vendors to instead sell legal wares so the city PNP would not swoop down on them again.
