Prov’l board seeks declaratory relief
Members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) have been very divided on the issue of whether the Laoag City council was able to override the veto of Laoag City Mayor Michael V. Fariñas that a member has proposed a petition for the courts to issue a declaratory relief with regards to the raging controversy.
Ilocos Norte Governor Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is pushing for an immediate rebate payment schedule to consumers for the Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative (INEC) as a result of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) decision ordering the local power cooperative refund their over recovery of more than P100 million.
Ordinances still to be approved by Prov’l Board
The Laoag City Sangguniang Panlungsod has approved the fare rate increase requested by tricycle operators and drivers. The increase was due to the continued rise in prices of oil and petroleum products.
The members of the council approved the two ordinances increasing the fare rate for tricycle and calesa unanimously during their July 13 regular hearing.
