INEC seeks BBM help in overcharging mess After filing a motion for reconsideration to the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) in its overcharging decision, officials of the Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative (INEC) had sought the help of Ilocos Norte Governor Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for the cooperative officials to have an audience with ERC Chair Rodolfo B. Albano Jr. “Agpayso a nangi-file kani iti motion for reconsideration ngem napanunutan mi a nasay-sayaat sa no dumawat kam payla iti tulong iti ama iti probinsiya imbes nga adda hearings ket saan kuman ta bareng adda payla paglaw-lawagan na ket al-alisto iti pannaka settle daytoy a problema (It’s true that we filed a motion for reconsideration but we decided that it would be better if we’d rather ask the assistance of the governor instead of going through hearings to decide the matter for there may still be hope of a quicker settlement of this problem),” INEC General Manager Romillas C. Pascual said. Pascual further said that if there is really an overcharging in the part of INEC then they would discontinue their motion for reconsideration. Earlier, the ERC handed down a decision finding the local power utility to have overcharged its consumers by P102 million from 1996 to 2004. The decision however was received by INEC only on the latter part of June not withstanding the fact that the decision was handed down on May. The Ilocos Norte provincial government even received its copy of the ERC decision well ahead of INEC. Meanwhile, the power cooperative celebrated its 34th anniversary on July 7 at the Teatro Ilocandia in Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) Batac campus. The anniversary was marked by a thanksgiving mass and a program attended by all INEC employees. During the program, INEC officials gave loyalty awards to employees who had been serving the cooperative for 30, 25, 20, 15 and 10 years. Along with the awards, cash incentives were also given the awardees depending on their length of service. The 30-year veterans were also given their respective rings. Dominic B. dela Cruz
