DAR-Ilocos Norte sponsors poster-making tilt

The Department of Agrarian Reform-Ilocos Norte sponsored a on-the-spot poster-making contest in line with the 19th CARP Anniversary and with the objective of portraying agrarian reform beneficiaries’ (ARBs) vision and mission, and to also project this year’s theme: “Sustaining the Gains of Agrarian Reform Towards Poverty Alleviation and Rural Development.”

A total of 33 college students from colleges in Laoag City and Ilocos Norte participated in the contest.

Winning the top prize was Alwin Langdet of Northwestern University. He received a cash prize of P5,000.

Garnering second place and P3,000 cash prize was Emerson dela Cruz also of NWU while taking third spot and the P2,000 cash prize was Mark Joseph Talon of Data Center of the Philippines.

Consolation prizes were also given to Xavier Ramos of Divine Word College of Laoag, Joseph Calamaan of Mariano Marcos State University-Institute of Technology, and Maria Christian Alcantara also of NWU.

The six winners also received trophies and certificates of appreciation awarded by acting PARO Christianne Suguitan.

The winners also won the chance to participate in the national level of the poster-making contest should the DAR central office hold one. Their respective masterpieces, meanwhile, will be kept by DAR for future exhibits.

Serving as judges for the contest were Batac City Mayor Jeffrey Nalupta, DAR-RIO Jenny Dulay and La Union PARO Maan Francisco. The contest was held June 29 at the Provincial Capitol Auditorium.
