Solsona Mayor Joseph De Lara is the new president of the League of Municipalities in the Philippines (LMP) -Ilocos Norte Chapter after he all 22 municipal mayors of the province voted for him. The LMP election was held on July 10 at the Provincial Capitol. Elated by the support shown by his colleagues, De Lara expressed his gratitude for their trust and confidence in him. “As president, I will be representing the Ilocos Norte mayors in the national directory as chairman. Whatever projects and programs we want to implement, we shall be able to communicate with the hierarchy,” De Lara said as he also acknowledged that his new responsibility would be a tough job considering that they are all holding the same position in their respective localities. Meanwhile, outgoing LMP-IN President Corazon R. Abad, a three-term Sarrat mayor who is now her town’s vice mayor, said she hopes the new set of LMP officers would uphold the unity and dignity of the group just like what she did during her stint. Other LMP-IN officers are: Dumalneg Mayor Francis Espiritu, executive vice president; Pagudpud Mayor Marlon Sales, vice president for the first district; Badoc Mayor Thomas N. Torralba, vice president for the second district; Pinili Mayor Anunciacion D. Pagdilao, secretary; Bangui Mayor Salvacion Cimatu, assistant secretary; Currimao Mayor Rosario C. Go, treasurer; San Nicolas Mayor Alfredo P. Valdez Jr., assistant treasurer; Dingras Mayor Marynette Gamboa, auditor; Carasi Mayor Joy Fernandez, public information officer; and Piddig Mayor Generoso Aquino, auditor. The board of directors are: Adams Mayor Eric Bawingan, Paoay Mayor Bobby Clemente, Burgos Mayor Crisente Garcia, Marcos Mayor Salvador Pillos, Pasuquin Mayor Oscar D. Aguinaldo, Bacarra Mayor Nicomedes Dela Cruz and Vintar Mayor Jose Foronda. Sarrat Mayor Edito Balintona and Nueva Era Mayor Aldrin Garvida—both lawyers—were named legal counsel and assistant legal counsel, respectively.
