LC improves to 5th in 2007 IRAA meet

FROM finishing seventh overall last year, the Laoag City team took fifth place in this year’s edition of the Ilocos Region Athletic Association (IRAA) meet held in San Carlos City, Pangasinan from February 28 to March 2.

Dr. Cecilia P. Aribuabo, city Department of Education (DepEd) superintendent, made this announcement as she proudly reported that the city’s athletic delegation moved two steps higher in the overall standings for this year.

According to Aribuabo, this is already a major feat considering the minimal budget given to the delegation compared to other teams.

Aribuabo also expressed her gratitude since there was no major accidents or injuries involving the city’s athletes although one athlete got sick for one day.

The DepEd superintendent congratulated the city’s athletes, especially those who managed to win medals.

Meanwhile, aside from finishing higher this year, Aribuabo also announced that the city’s delegation was also named the Most Disciplined delegation for the second time.
